The next section of Acts 8 includes a story that has lots of dynamics. It will leave you with a lot of questions. But the gospel writer, Luke, doesn't want us to get lost in the fog. He wants to clarify what it looks like to follow Jesus on mission. We will meet a character, Simon, that is all about greatness and power. But in the end Simon will be disappointed with Jesus because Jesus won't do Simon's bidding. It is a powerful redirect of our attention, like unlocking the "secret move" of a magic trick. We will clarify together whose agenda the church/FBC@A is actually on. Make no mistake, we are on God's team and not the other way around.
